Brownies Control Robotic Telescope in STAR Centre Mission Control
On the evening of the 7th May 2008, 1st Cullingworth Brownies worked towards their Brownie Star Gazer Badge in Mission Control at the STAR Centre. They submitted an observational request to the robotic telescope to obtain images of the gas giant planet Saturn and of an elliptical galaxy (NGC 5846). The JMU Liverpool telescope (2m reflecting robotic telescope) is sited in the Canary Isles on a remote Island called La Palma. JMU has built one of the world’s largest robotically controlled telescopes on the Island to help individuals to increase their understanding of how the Universe works. The results are shown below:
