Astronauts Vist the Star Centre – Read all about it!

The STAR Centre was fortunate to have a visit from 2 NASA Astronauts, they were Dr Karen Nyberg and Michael Fossam, they are 2 of the seven man team of astronauts who recently retuned from a space shuttle trip to the International Space Station (I.S.S.). The mission was the 26th Space Shuttle mission to the ISS and its pupose was to deliver and install a large module as part of the Japanese Experiment Laboratory known as “KIBO” which means “Hope” The mission STS 124 was the second of three flights which will complete the KIBO laboratory.

Micheal Fossum said of the STAR Centre “This is an awesome facility”. After the visit to the STAR Centre the pair were taken across to Victoria Hall to address a group of nearly 300 schoolchildren.

The STAR Centre staff were particularly pleased to show the Astronauts around the facilities as that now means that the centre has been visited by Astronauts, Cosmonauts and both Russian and American mission contol specialists.
