In October 2007, the town Mayor visited the STAR Centre accompanied by the Principal of Park Lane College, Maxine Room and the Vice-Principal, Peter McCann. The Mayor was introduced to the principles of rocketry, radio communication, IT and physical sciences. After the tour, the party adjourned to the Media Suite to watch a wide screen cinematic representation of the new college build proposed for Dalton Lane in 2009.
